5 Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishers Accepting Submissions in 2022

Not all publishers accept unsolicited submissions, but here is a list of five traditional fantasy and science fiction publishers who are currently accepting submissions. Each publisher has their own requirements, so make sure you follow their instructions for the best chance of getting noticed. I'll link to each publisher's submission guidelines, so make sure to carefully check them before you submit. 

1. Edge Publishing

Edge has very specific guidelines and will only accept manuscripts between 75,000 and 100,000 words. They also require a query letter, synopsis, title page, prologue (if there is one), and the first three chapters.

2. Jo Fletcher Books

Jo Fletcher only accepts emailed submissions of full-length novels. They require a cover letter, synopsis, and the first three chapters or 10,000 words.

3. Flame Tree Publishing

Flame Tree is looking for manuscripts between 75,000 and 120,000 words. They require a short synopsis, the word count, contact info on the manuscript, an author bio, and the whole manuscript. 

4. Polis Books

Polis is looking for manuscripts that are at least 60,000 words. They require a query letter, author bio, and three chapters.

5. Talos Press

Talos Press prefers emailed submissions and they do not state a specific word count. They require a query letter, synopsis, market analysis, one or two sample chapters, and an author bio. This press is the only one on this list that asks for a market analysis, but knowing what books like yours are out there is always helpful for an author to know.
